OAK OF THE PILLAR Sacred meeting place in Shechem where the citizens of that city and the inhabitants of Beth-millo made Abimelech king (Jgs 9:6, asv, nas). It is perhaps identifiable with the Oak of Moreh. See Moreh, Oak of; Plain of the Pillar.
