JAALA (PERSON) [Heb ya˓ălā˒ (יַעֲלָא)]. Var. JAALAH. A servant of Solomon who was the progenitor of a family which returned from Babylon with Zerubbabel (Neh 7:58). The variant Jaalah occurs in the parallel passage Ezra 2:56 (Heb ya˓ălâ) and 1 Esdr 5:33 (Gk ieēli).
